Solidarity Hour... The One with David Deiters

David Deiters is the current Executive Director of the Scheller College of Business MBA Career Services at Georgia Tech. David joined us for Solidarity Hour and with his usual wit and humor, gave us a look into his interesting career and life journey from a career consultant to eventually rising to President of the global management consulting firm, North Highland. He "retired" from consulting and while he expected to spend his ensuing days on the golf course, he shares how his wife "fired" him from retirement and launched him back into the world so that others could continue to benefit from his immense talents and unique superpower of being a master connector.

Three years ago, with no prior experience in academia, he landed what he now considers his "dream job," as the Executive Director of the MBA Career Services office for the world-renowned Scheller College of Business at Georgia Tech. In his role, he spends his days forging relationships with companies looking to hire MBA students, and preparing these very students for their post-MBA careers. In this Solidarity Hour, David shares with us what he loves about being able to help young, aspiring MBA graduates launch their careers during these pivotal years of their lives, and also gives us some practical advice on how to navigate a career shift.

We wrap up our conversation talking about the unique challenges that this past year of the Covid-19 pandemic has brought on higher education and especially the MBA experience for students, and he shares with us the optimism that he sees ahead as we begin to navigate our way out of this pandemic this year.
